Speeding Driver Suffers Critical Injuries Smashing Into Tree In Maryland: Police

A 21-year-old man had to be rushed to the hospital with life-threatening injuries after losing control and crashing into a tree in Anne Arundel County early on Thursday morning, police say.

Shortly after 3:30 a.m. on May 23, officers were called to the 700 block of Nabbs Creek Road in Glen Burnie, where there was a reported single-vehicle crash involving an Infiniti Q40.

According to a spokesperson from the Anne Arundel County Police Department, the Infiniti was speeding east along the roadway when the driver failed to negotiate a left-hand curve, went off the road, and smashed into a tree.

The driver - A Glen Burnie man who has not been identified - was taken to the University of Maryland R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center for treatment and evaluation of critical injuries.

No other injuries were reported.

The crash remains under investigation by the department's Traffic Safety Section.
